Scary Places and Scarier times

I just finished reading a book series that has what isn't really considered a happy ending if you take into consideration everything that happened to get there. The thing is though, no one really cared. They just knew that maybe they would be okay now, or at least more okay than they were. That kind of has a sad ring to it in my ears because things shouldn't have to be like that. It shouldn't be that we're pacified by the things that are better than our past, but I suppose that is the best way to be in this scary place. I hope you guys know that you make my piece of this world a little bit more bearable though :) Thanks!
